Marcella Jackson, 97 of Bellevue passed away on Thursday, May 14 2009, at Mill Valley Care Center. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Green Island Congregational Church, Pastor Dennis Keane officiating. Burial will be in the First Presbyterian Cemetery in Bellevue. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home. Marcella was born in Green Island on July 8, 1911, the daughter of Albert Lingle and Johanna Daniels Lingle. She graduated from Bellevue High School in the Normal Training program and taught grades 1-4 in the Green Island School for 6 years. In 1934, she married Eldon Kurth and they farmed in the Green Island area until moving to Bellevue in 1955. After Eldons death, Marcella married Imo Jackson in 1979. Marcella was known for her work with the Green Island Congregational Church where she played the piano for many years and served as church secretary for 50 years. She played role for many years in the annual chicken supper and was well known throughout the Bellevue area for r her candy making, having made 101 pounds of candy the Christmas before entering Mill Valley Care Center in 1997. She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Strahn, of Keizer, Oregon; three grandson, Marc (Kathi) Strahn of Story, Wyoming; Jeff (Jackie) Strahn of Wailuku, Hawaii; and Derek (Katy) Strahn of Bozeman, Montana; a step-daughter, Rosalee Schlecht of Miles, Iowa; step son, Wayne (Norma) Jackson, of Bellevue, step-daughter Beverly (Bernie) Sullivan of Bellevue, and a step-son Virgil (Janice) Jackson who is deceased, 12 step grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
