Marcellene L. Gonner, 72, of East Dubuque and formerly Springbrook, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City. Marcellene was born February 18th, 1935 in LaMotte, daughter of the late Anthony J. and Lucille (Entringer) Till. She married Merlin Gonner on April 7th, 1956 at the St. John Catholic Church in Andrew. He survives. Marcellene was a postmaster for the United States Post Office in Lyndon, Illinois, retiring in 2004. She also had been a clerk and carrier for the Maquoketa Post Office. She had worked at Jackson State Bank and Dostal-Watters Implement both in Maquoketa. Besides her husband, Merlin, survivors include three sons and one daughter; Stanley (Tamara) Gonner, Dubuque, Karen (Joel) Sturm, Bellevue, Duane (Tina) Gonner, Asbury and John (Jacqueline) Gonner, Dubuque; 13 grandchildren, Brittni (Austin) Imhof, Jacob, Michael and Isaac Sturm, Nathaniel, Kathryn, Brian, Aaron, Andrew, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Rebecca and Benjamin Gonner; one great granddaughter, Morgan Imhof; three brothers, Ronald (Rosemary) Till, Andrew, Eugene (Lek) Till, Aurora, CO, Roger (Helen) Till, West Des Moines; three sisters, Rosemary (Pete) Feller, Preston, Doris (Ray) Theisen, Bellevue and Carol (Mick) Clark, Maquoketa; one sister-in-law, Jean Till, Delmar. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Aloysius Till. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM, Saturday, June 16th, 2007 at the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. The Revs. Fr. Phillip Schmitt and Fr. James Heiar will concelebrate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 3-7 PM and at the Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home in Bellevue and again on Saturday from 8:30 AM until the time of services at the church.
