Marie C. Weis, 96, of Bellevue, peacefully passed away Saturday morning, February 25, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Marie will be held from 3:00 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service and again on Tuesday morning after 9:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Marie was born on January 28, 1916 in Bellevue, the daughter of John and Regina (Dempewolf) Michel. Marie graduated from St. Joseph High School, the Class of 1933. She married Nick Weis on October 19, 1937, in Bellevue; he passed away April 8, 1985. Marie and Nick bought a farm in the Spruce Creek area in 1940, where she lived for 72 years. She was very devoted to her Lord and the St. Joseph Parish and its Rosary Society. She volunteered for the St. Josephs Hot Lunch program for over 40 years. She also helped at the Bellevue Senior Center for several years. Family meant a lot to Marie, she spent many hours quilting, crocheting, cooking, gardening and playing cards. She also enjoyed many trips to the Casino with her friends. She will be deeply missed. Surviving are her two sons, Donald (Mary Lou) and Thomas Weis; Two daughters, Janis Ploeger and Lois (Wayne) Kilburg, all of Bellevue; 12 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Gothard, of Bellevue and Rosemary (James) Kueter, of Anadarko, Oklahoma; a brother, Edward Sr. (Val) Michel, of Dubuque; and brother in-law, Carlyle Said, of Dubuque.
