Marilyn Cecilia Doland, 89, of Bellevue, passed away peacefully, Thursday afternoon, March 23, 2017, at Mill Valley Care Center, in Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Bellevue. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Visitation for Marilyn will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue and again Wednesday morning from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. also at the Funeral Home. Marilyn was born on January 10, 1928 in Bellevue, Iowa the daughter of Vernon and Augusta (Fischer) Ernst. She married Willis Gus Doland on May 6, 1950 in Bellevue. He passed away on March 20, 2007.Marilyn worked with her brother, Bob Ernst at his insurance office for many years. She also drove the school bus for both Marquette and Bellevue Public Schools. She remembered fondly the connection she had with her kids on the bus. Marilyn was past president of the Bellevue Garden Club, served on the Bellevue Park Board and volunteered with the Bellevue Ambulance Service. Marilyn loved to garden, plant flowers and sew. She sewed a quilt for each new baby welcomed into the family. After she retired she fulfilled a lifelong dream of traveling throughout the world. Her greatest joy was spending time and laughing with her family. She will be deeply missed.Those left to honor her memory include her children, Dave (Barb) Doland, Miles, Larry (Sue Hipschen) Doland, Bellevue, Steven Doland, San Francisco, Mary (David) Voelkel, Cedar Rapids, Karen Doland, Des Moines, and Lisa Doland, Huxley; daughter in-law Suzie Doland, Midland, Texas; Seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Gerald (Dee) Ernst; sister, Carol Agosta; and sister in-law, Grace Ernst. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, Bruce; grandchild, Matthew Yeager; and two brothers, Robert and Vernon Ernst.In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Marilyns name.
