Marilyn Jean (Myers) Hoffmann, 82, formerly of Bellevue, most recently of Lexington, SC, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bellevue. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, and 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home in Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellevue with repast to follow. Her family encourages attendees to wear apparel with the bright colors, flowers, and birds that Marilyn loved.
Marilyn was born August 15, 1941 in Waucoma, IA, the daughter of William F. and Bertha M. (Drilling) Myers. She graduated from Waucoma High School in 1960, then worked at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque. Marilyn married Carl F. Hoffmann in 1963 and they were happily married for 56 years. Her husband and family were her passions. She also was a trusted volunteer for church activities, CCD, and the Colts drum corps. She was employed as a cook at St. Joseph’s Rectory and the school hot lunch program, and as a teacher’s aide at St. Joseph’s Elementary and Preschool.
Survivors include her children, Leo (Jenny) Hoffmann of Brighton, CO, Julie (David) Shepherd of Chocowinity, NC, and Patrick (Gwen) Hoffmann of Gilbert, SC; 8 grandchildren, Nathan, Michelle (Josh), Chanise (Peter), Jessica (Mike), Rex, Justin, Tyler & Christian, and 5 great-grandchildren, Remy, Jaina, Ember, Quinn, & Emma. Surviving siblings Magdalen (Ralph) Wieling, Dorothy (Jim) Cotant, Sr. Dolores Myers, BVM, and Elaine Hill; and more than 50 nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl, Carl’s parents John S. and Isadore Hoffmann; her sisters: Ester Myers, Mary (Bernard) DeSloover, Betty (Tony) Sieverding, Frances (Paul) Kress, and brothers: Leonard (Alice) Myers and Albert (Marlene) Myers and Carl’s brother Eugene (Shirley) Hoffmann and sister Rita Hoffmann.
