Marlene Joan Goetz, 86, formerly of Bellevue, passed away, Monday evening, September 18th, 2017 at Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 23 at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, in Bellevue. Burial will take place in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation for Marlene will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the funeral service also at the Funeral Home. Marlene Buchman was born July 31, 1931, at home in Springbrook, Wisconsin, the seventh child of eleven, to Harold and Agnes (McNitt) Buchman.Marlene grew up quite independent for a women in that era. Shortly after graduating from high school, she and her sisters traveled and took summer jobs in Florida, Chicago and California. In Chicago is where she met the love of her life Marvin Goetz. They fell in love and where married on April 10, 1955 in Bellevue. Together they raised three children, Lori, Craig and Ann. Marlene was the model homemaker, she was a talented cook, baker and seamstress. She was always welcoming, the Goetz house became the hangout for many of the neighborhood kids. She was a mom to many.Marlene also worked along side her husband at the family business, Goetz Implement, in Bellevue. She did everything and anything that needed to be done, from bookkeeping to running after parts. She also worked at the Bellevue Public Library for many years. Marlene loved children, and the library allowed her to be around children.Marlenes family meant the world to her and took priority above all else. She will be deeply missed.Those left to honor her memory, include her husband, Marvin, of Cedar Rapids; son, Craig (Roxanne) Goetz, also of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Lori (Robert) Traeger, of Solon, Iowa; two grandchildren, Brendan Gorman and Andrea Traeger; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Edward (Janell) and Howard Buchman; and two sisters, Maxine (Neal) Rydberg, and Janette Wessel.Marlene was Preceded in death by her parents, daughrter, Ann Goetz; two brothers, Vernon and Delbert; and three sisters, Norma, Eleanor and Phyllis.
