Marvin F. Jacobs 71, of Springbrook, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 04, 2012, with his family by his side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the Bellevue American Legion Post 273. Visitation for Marvin will be held from 3:00 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home in Bellevue and again Wednesday morning after 9:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Marvin was born on January 8, 1941 on the family farm outside Springbrook the son of Urban and Algean (Feltes) Jacobs. He graduated from 8th grade at St. Peter & Paul School in Springbrook. He served in the Navy until 1962. Marvin married the love of his life, Nancy Yoerger, on August 17, 1963, and together they had four boys. Marvin lived on the family farm for over 40 years, where he enjoyed being outside and working in the fields. Marvin also hauled gas for Farm Services for 23 years, and worked for Kent Feeds and Eagle Window and Door later in life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was very involved in his parish. Marvin loved spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. His laughter was contagious. He loved to play cards, bowl, golf, and play slow pitch softball. Marvin was also able to enjoy his last 11 winters in Arizona with his wife. Marvin was a loving and caring husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 48 years, Nancy; four sons, Marty (Tina Franzen) of Clermont, IA, Rod (Lisa) of Springbrook, IA, Dan (Sue) of Bellevue, IA, and Carl (Ann) of Bellevue, IA; eight grandchildren; a sister Lorraine (Delbert) Hansen of Miles, IA; a brother Richard (Judy) Jacobs of Dubuque IA; sister-in-law Judy James of Camanche IA; brother-in law & sister in law Larry & Donna Yoerger of Charlotte IA; brother-in-law Don Yoerger of Clinton IA; a sister-in-law Sharon Yoerger of East Dubuque, IL, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Hospice of Jackson County or the American Heart Association.
