Marvin John Michels, 93, of Bellevue, passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, December 20, 2015, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, December 23, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Marvin will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Marvin was born on March 29, 1922 in Springbrook Township, the son of Peter and Clara (Gerardy) Michels. Marvin joined the United States Army in 1943 and served in WWII for three years. Upon his return from service, he became a farmer and married Rose Mary Rosie Mootz, October 12, 1948 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. He was also employed by Clinton Engines in Maquoketa, and later John Deere in Dubuque where he retired after 25 years. Marvins spare time was spent fishing, gardening, bowling and playing cards. Family was important to Marvin, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Rosies Bottoms located on his property in Bellevue. He also enjoyed a ritual of making salsa and noodles with his grandchildren. Marvin was always happy and full of energy, he will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched. Those left to honor his memory include his four children, Darrell, Dennis (Robin)Michels, Karen (Mark) Jess, and Mark (Ann) Michels, all of Bellevue; two daughters in-law, Lori Michels, of Bellevue, and Marilyn Michels, of Dubuque; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; siblings, Orville, Lester (Leanna), Arlene McGinnis, Kenny, Norma Casel, Larry (Joyce) and Bob (Kelma); and a sister in-law, Marita Dubby Mootz-Goldsmith. He was preceded in death by his wife; and two sons, Gary and Lynn; and sister Maxine Kueter.
