Mary Lou Abeln, 78, of Bellevue, died Tuesday morning August 16, 2011, at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue. Friends may call Saturday morning after 8:30 a.m. at The Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Mary Lou was born August 21, 1932 in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbert and Thais (McKillip) Abeln. She was employed by Clinton Engines, ESKA Corp. and Ensign Coil. Mary Lou was a hard worker. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Mary Lou was independent, strong willed and a giving person who will be deeply missed. Those left to honor her memory include her nieces and nephews, Gary Ries, Dale (Carol) Ries, Darla (Mike) Baker, Linda Ries, Louann Galvin, Patricia(Tom) Giblen, Martin (Gina) Galvin, Paul (Kim) Galvin, Bruce (Terri) Abeln, Ann (John) Thielen, Jodi (Bill) Maki, Pam (Curt) Olsen; Two sisters in-law Marilyn Abeln and Ann Opgenorth; brother in-law, Richard Galvin and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; special friend, Richard Haiar; three brothers, Kenneth, Richard and Wilbert Jr; two sisters, Virginia Ries and Eileen Galvin; and nephew, David Ries.
