Mary Ernst

Mary M. Ernst, 86, of Bellevue, passed away Friday evening, January 20, 2017 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30pm, Tuesday, January 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Mary will be held from 9:30-12:00pm Tuesday morning prior to Mass at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue.Mary was born on May 20, 1930 in St. Donatus, daughter of Aloysius and Agnes (Malone) Heiar. She married Norbert Paul Ernst on September 18, 1951. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2002. Mary was a homemaker, her family meant the world to her. She enjoyed crocheting, baking for her family, making quilts, playing cards and gardening. In the springtime Mary enjoyed going mushroom hunting. Marys faith was important to her, she was a lifelong member of St. Josephs Catholic Church and its Rosary Society.Those left to honor her memory include her four children, Mike (Melanie), of Wyoming, Iowa, Linda Gissel, of Waterloo, Iowa, Jean Ann (Randy) Harris, of Le Claire, Iowa and Mary Jane (John) Mueller, of Bellevue; 11 grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, JoAnn; two brothers, Delbert and Leo Heiar; and three sisters, Rita Mae Clasen, Dorothy Ernst and Theresa Heiar.In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Marys name
