Mary M. Giesemann, 87, of Bellevue, passed away, Thursday morning, June 22, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. A Christian Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 26 at St. John Lutheran Church in St. Donatus. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation for Mary will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue and again Monday morning from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church in St. Donatus.Mary was born on January 28, 1930 in St. Donatus, the daughter of Alfred and Amanda (Reeg) Hueneke. She married Virgil Giesemann on December 14, 1948. Virgil passed away on July 14, 1982.Mary and her husband owned and operated Country Side Feed and Seed from 1978-1989, she also worked at Mill Valley Care Center in the Kitchen. Mary spent many hours volunteering for the Bellevue RTA, The Finley Hospital in the Babka Center, and the Bellevue Butterfly Garden.Mary was a free spirited, kind hearted, gentle person who always had a smile on her face. In her earlier years she enjoyed fishing. Mary also enjoyed traveling, baking (especially her famous chocolate cake), spending time out in the sun, and being in the company of her family and friends. Those left to honor her memory include her four children, Gary (Faye) Giesemann of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, Janell (Joe) Daugherty, Timothy (Becky) Giesemann, and Todd (Deb) Giesemann all of Bellevue; eleven grandchildren, Jordan, Evan (Ryan) Giesemann, Kelly (Jim) Russell, Erin (Jon) Mueller, Abby (Brad) Slauson, Benjamin (Joslyn Zimmermann), Ashley (Matt Schlecht), Toby, Tate, Nicole, Luke Giesemann; eight great grandchildren; one sister Adela Giesemann of Bellevue; two sister in-laws Verrena Dagitz-Stein, and Joy Hueneke.Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Paul. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Mercy Medical Center especially the fourth floor, Bellevues First Responders, Mill Valley Care Center & Sunrise Villa, and all of Marys special friends who had helped her out over the years.
