Mary 'Donna' Hoffman

Mary Donna Hoffman, 81, of Bellevue, peacefully passed away Thursday morning, February 16, 2012 at Bethany Home in Dubuque. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Donna will be held from 1:00 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service and again on Monday morning after 9:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Donna was born on September 18, 1930 in Dubuque daughter of John and Bernadette (McCarthy) Murphy. She married Gerald Harry Hoffman on August 14, 1948, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dubuque, he passed away January 13, 1999. Donna was fun loving, spunky and non-judgmental. She lived life to the fullest and always kept busy. She enjoyed reading, golfing, playing cards and spending time with family. In her younger years Donna and her husband spent time at their cottage in Spruce Creek north of Bellevue. Years later they converted the cottage to their primary residence. The Spruce Creek Family meant a lot to Donna. She will be deeply missed by all. Those left to honor her memory include her four sons, Donald Bear (Marge), of Dubuque, Richard Byrd (Diane), of Dubuque, Dennis Chink (Kim Miller), of Denver, Colorado and Kevin Putter (Cathy), of Dubuque; two daughters, Connie (Allan) Rowell, of Dubuque and Kathy (Edward Rabbit) Michel, of Bellevue; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert and Larry Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Ronald; grandson, Trevor; sister, Theora; and five brothers, Justin, Orville, Francis, Daniel and Ronald.
