Mary Meier, 81, of Bellevue, peacefully passed away Wednesday morning, September 11, 2013, at her home in Bellevue surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, September 14, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Mary will be held from 4:00 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service and again on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 at the funeral home Merlin M. Meier was born on April 30, 1932 in Clarion, Iowa, daughter of Peter and Gladys (Smith) Wanken. She married Floyd T. Meier on September 22, 1952 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He passed away on December 8, 2010. Mary worked at ESCA in Dubuque for many years, retiring in 1986. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was caring, giving and spiritual. Mary was always on the go and had many friends. She enjoyed crocheting, walking, biking and bowling. Marys grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important to her. Those left to honor her memory include her four children, David (Belita), and Donald Moonie (Mary Jo), both of Bellevue, Tim (Kristine), of Shellsburg, Iowa and Tina (Duane) Gonner, of Dubuque; 11 grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; two brothers, Francis (Judy) Wanken and Daniel (Gaye) Wanken and a sister, Marge Portz. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; great grandchild, Layna Marie Meier; and four sisters, Kay, Rose, Betty and Sherie.
