Mary Carol Mussmann, 77, of Bellevue, passed away December 5, 2017, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue.A Christian Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Bellevue. Visitation for Mary Carol will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.Mary Carol was born September 29, 1940, in Bellevue, Iowa, to Clarence and Evelyn (Abeln) Yoerger. She married Leighton Albert Mussmann in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue.Mary Carol was a kind soul, taking part in many groups and functions in the Bellevue Community, including, Quilts of Valor, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, prayer shawl group and she was an avid member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mary Carol enjoyed doll making for several years, as well as collecting them. Mary Carol was giving. She loved to quilt and make afghans for others, especially her family. When she made the quilts and afghans, she filled them with her love so whoever was covered would feel the love and warmth.When Mary Carol was younger, she enjoyed many summer vacations at Okoboji, IA with her sister Sharon and parents Clarence and Evelyn. She shared wonderful memories and an everlasting love with her husband of 38 years, Leighton, Sr. Mary Carol loved having the house filled with family, especially around the holidays, including the many campfires on Memorial and Labor-Day weekends. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were at the center of her world.Those left to honor her memory include her three daughters: Mary Jo (Donald Moonie) Meier, of Bellevue, Barbara (Kerry)McAbee, of Shellsburg, Iowa, and Joyce (Terry) Koppes, of West Liberty, Iowa; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Mussmann, of Bryant, Iowa.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Leighton Jr. Rick Mussmann and a great granddaughter, Layna Meier.
