Mary F. Steines

Mary F. Steines, 78 of Bellevue, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 25 at Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home until service time. Mary was born on February 16, 1931 in Oklahoma, daughter of Ezra and Melvina 'Janey' (Morin) Russell. She married William Pratt in 1947, he passed away in 1949. She later married Raymond Purvis, he passed away in 1992. She then married Orville Steines. Mary raised seven children while maintaining a remarkable sense of humor. She was an avid reader and writer and enjoyed countless hours solving crossword puzzles and playing Jeopardy. Mary loved to spend time with her beloved grandchildren fishing and singing songs. Surviving is her husband, Orville Steines, of Bellevue; seven children, Michael (Lois) Pratt and Louie Pratt, both of Minnesota, Deborah (Kevin) Sheehan, of Florida, Judy (Jack) McDonald and RayeLene (George) Purvis, both of Minnesota, Alicia Purvis and Ronald (Tami) Purvis, both of Bellevue; 34 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; two brothers, Sonny Russell (Beverly-Deceased), of Bellevue, Lane (Morin) Russell, of New Mexico; a sister, Linda (Harlen) Stobbs, of New Mexico and numerous stepchildren.
