Bellevue, Ia. Milton R. Rowan, 80, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away Monday Morning, January 5, 2015, at his home in Bellevue, surrounded by family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am, Friday, January 9, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue, Fr. Phillip Kruse will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A visitation for Milton will be from 4:00 7:00pm, Thursday at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Friday morning after 9:30 at the funeral home. Milton Rowan was born April 12, 1934 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Edward and Myrtle (Grant) Rowan. He married Ione Scheckel on May 10, 1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church Preston, Iowa. Milton farmed his entire life and loved all of his animals on his familys Century Farm. He worked with his son, Kevin, for Rowan Custom Harvesting and R&S Fencing. Milton also worked for Wendling Quarries from 1987-2004. He was an honest, hardworking Irish man who could joke around with the best of them. In his free time Milton enjoyed hunting, mushroom hunting, fishing, cards and dancing, but he always made time for his family. Milton was especially proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 56 years, Ione Rowan, of Bellevue; their three children, Randy (Rhonda) Rowan, of Spragueville, Kevin Rowan, of Bellevue, Carla (DeWayne) Beckley, of Maquoketa; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brother, Eldon (Anita) Rowan, of Coeur dAlene, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward, sister Marjorie Daughtery, brothers-in-law Robert Scheckel and James Daughtery; and sisters-in-law Mary Rowan and Elaine Koch. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Jackson County, neighbors and friends. In lieu of flowers Milton R. Rowan Memorial Fund has been established.
