Milton Scheckel

Milton O. Scheckel, Bellevue, Ia. Milton O. Scheckel, 91, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away Sunday morning, February 22, 2015 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am, Saturday, February 28 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook, Iowa. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. A visitation for Milton will be from 3:00 7:00pm, Friday evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Saturday morning after 9:00, at the church. Milton Scheckel was born April 23, 1923 in Springbrook, the son of Peter and Jesse (Dondlinger) Scheckel. He married Arleta Weinschenk on April 10, 1945, at Sts. Peter & Paul in Springbrook. Milton farmed his entire life. He was always inventive and had a way with hatching chickens, ducks, and geese. Milton also enjoyed gardening, making homemade wine, playing his accordion, and going for his Sunday evening pizza. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 69 years, Arleta, of Bellevue; their three sons, Darwin (Michelle), of Silvis, Illinois, Larry (Shelley) and Marty (Jane), both of Bettendorf, Iowa; two daughters, Gail (Jack) Hanlon, of Maquoketa and Donna (Jerry) Metcalf, of Parkview; 11 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, great grandchild, Hayden Pauls; four brothers, Eldon, Odelo, Willard and Roy; and three sisters, Katrenia Scheckel, Lydena Scheckel and Anabelle Frett.
