Myrl J. Scheckel, 72 of Andrew, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Jackson County Regional Health Center. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook officiated by Father Paul Lippstock. Burial will be in the church cemetery where American Legion Post #273 will accord full military rites. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. ending with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 24 at Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home and again Saturday at the church from 9:00 until mass time. Myrl was born on September 6, 1936 on a farm in Clinton County, son of Matt and Leona (Weis) Scheckel. He attended Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic School in Springbrook, later he worked at Clinton Engines until serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1958. Myrls passion was dancing, which he became an Arthur Murray Dance Instructor. Later he owned and operated Scheckel & Company, offering Ballroom Dancing Lessons. Myrl also enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques. He enjoyed people and had a great sense of humor. Surviving are his three sisters, Beulah (Vernon) Kramer, of Naples, Florida, Anita (Vincent) Schmidt, of Bellevue, and Nora (Joe) Conner, of Richmond, California; 19 nieces and nephews; 28 great nieces and nephews; two great great nieces; and a longtime friend, Jack Kopenga, of Clinton.
