Norman William Steines, 96 of Bellevue, died Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Dubuque Nursing & Rehab Center. Services will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church; Bellevue officiated by Father Stephen Meyer. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at Kingery Lemke Funeral Home, Saturday morning after 9:30 until procession to the church. Norman was born on March 31, 1913 in Bellevue, son of Peter and Katherine (Schmitt) Steines. He married Alverda Pleiser on April 14, 1947 in Bellevue. Norman farmed in the Bellevue area until 1958, he then was self employed as a Blacksmith in south Bellevue for twelve years until his retirement in 1970. They then moved to Oxford Junction where he had a thriving coonhound business for 25 years before moving back to Bellevue in 1995. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary before her death in 1997. He was an outgoing man with a great sense of humor, who loved telling stories. Norman had a passion for raccoon hunting, he enjoyed the sport for over 70 years. Surviving is his daughter, Bonnie (Dave) Spriet, of Erie, Illinois; four grandchildren, Diane Blair, Melinda Clifton, Brad Ottis, and Robert Ottis;8 great grandchildren, two brothers, Orville Steines Sr., of Bellevue and Glenn Steines, of Dubuque. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; a child in infancy; two brothers, Walter and Eugene; and a sister, Lavonne Perkins.
