Orville N. Michels, 96, of Bellevue passed away on Friday morning, June 16, 2017, at the Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be held in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Orville will be from 4:00 -7:00 pm Monday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service and again on Tuesday morning from 9:00-10:00 am also at the funeral home.Orville was born on October 8, 1920 in Bellevue, the son of Peter and Clara (Gerardy) Michels. He married Florence Deppe, on August 21, 1945 in Bellevue. She passed away on November 2, 1998.Over the years, Orville farmed with Dyas and Sons, worked at the Dubuque Packing Company for 28 years, and later took care of the Bellevue Cemetery until he fully retired in 2015. Orville was a quiet, hardworking, gentle person, who enjoyed playing cards especially cribbage and spending time in his garden. Every year Orville looked forward to playing KMAQ Radio Bingo. Orville was involved in the Bellevue Knights of Columbus and was an active member in the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Not only did Orville have a love for his family he also had a love for his dog Susie. Those left to honor his memory include his twelve children; Carol Keeney of Guthrie Center, Iowa, Dale (Margie) Michels of Garland, Texas, Dwain Michels, of Miles, Connie Taylor, Cheri Kaczinski, Danny Michels, Cora (Chester) Sutton, Carma (Jim) Hovey all of Maquoketa, Dean Michels of Bellevue, Carla (Ben) Caes, of Clarence, Iowa, John (Denna) Michels of Maquoketa, and Tammy Hansen of Camanche; four brothers Lester (Leanna), Larry (Joyce), Robert (Celma) all of Bellevue, and Kenneth of Springbrook; two sisters Arlene McGinnis of Dubuque, and Norma Jean Casel of LaMotte; twenty eight grandchildren and forty five great grandchildren. Orville was preceded in death by his parents; wife Florence, brother Marvin, sister Maxine, and three grandchildren.The family of Orville would like to thank the doctors and staff at Mercy Medical Center, and all of the people who came to help Orville in his time of need, your care and compassion will never be forgotten.
