Peter was born May 30, 1941 in Elkader, Iowa to Lloyd and Ila Meder. He graduated from Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. Peter married Virginia Ginny Frankl on August 7, 1965 in Elkader. He was a humorous salesman for many years, finishing his career with Docuforms, LLC, as a regional Iowa representative. Peter was an avid Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed fishing, the occasional toddy, hunting morels, playing cards and especially golfing. Peter was quick witted and always the first to tell a joke. He and Ginny travelled regularly to Ouray, Colorado, which was their special mountain getaway and their home-away-from-home for thirteen years. Pete will be deeply missed, but forever remembered in the hearts of those he loved. Peter is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ginny, of Bellevue; daughters, Jeanette Bautsch and Louise Meder, of Bellevue, and his 'favorite' grandson, Brent Gerlach, of Madison, Wisconsin. Peter was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Prudence Leachman; nephew, James Leachman; son in-law, Thomas Bautsch and his beloved - and favorite - yellow labrador. Molly Marie. The family would like to give a special thank you to Mercy Hospital, Mill Valley Care Center, Hospice of Jackson County, Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ron Besch, The Boys, House of China, Rotary, the Mighty Mississippi, the San Juans, friends, and every considerate reader whose heart remembers and mourns the loss of Pete.
