Raymond E. Marciniak, 82, of Bellevue, died Monday evening, April 11, 2011 at his home in Bellevue. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 14 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation for Ray will be held from 4:00 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Thursday morning after 10:00 at the Church. Raymond was born May 28, 1928 in Lemont, Illinois, the son of Lawrence and Alice (Ptasynski) Marciniak. He married Dorothy Splitt on October 4, 1975 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Ray served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was the Director of Public Works for the Village of Lemont, Illinois for over 27 years. Upon retirement Ray and Dorothy moved to Bellevue, where they enjoyed fishing and boating on the Mississippi. He was a talented woodworker and built many projects for friends and family. Ray was a very generous man who was always there for anybody who needed help. He also had a special bond with animals and enjoyed watching and feeding them. He will be deeply missed. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dorothy, of Bellevue; daughter, Teri Marciniak, of Lockport, Illinois; son, Mark Splitt, of Joliet, Illinois; two grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Otteman; brother in-law, Harold (Nancy) Volrath; and nieces and nephews, Larry, Mark, Gloria, Rosemary, Bonnie, Dorothy and Deb. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sylvester; two sisters, Stella (Elmer) Kintz, and Regina Marciniak; god son, Lester Marchiniak, and brother in-law, Milton Volrath.
