Rita M. (Kirchberg) Hansen

Rita M. (Kirchberg) Hansen, 84, of Bellevue, passed on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque. Private family services and burial in St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery on Monday, January 27, 2025. 

Rita was born October 20, 1940, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the daughter of Michael and Barbara (Reilly) Kirchberg. She graduated from Cuba City High School. Rita married Glenn Clarence Hansen on June 14, 1957, he passed away on January 26, 2020. Rita followed fashion trends and enjoyed her many years working at The Plaza Collection and going to market. She was an avid flower gardener, a love of animals throughout her life, made the best Butterscotch Dessert, and was a loving and caring Mother and Grandmother. 

Survivors include her children, Kevin (Julie) Hansen of Polk City; Karen (Daniel) Ploessl of Bellevue, Kelly (Scott) Siegel and Kurt (Lori) Hansen of DeWitt; grandchildren, Mike, Megan, Samuel, Jessica, Matthew, Alisa, Katelyn, Colin, Jacob and Cory; 11 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Ray Owens, Virgil (Melita) Hansen, William Hansen; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Decker; Darla Kay (Louie) Decker, Pam LaPrell and Veronica Hansen, numerous nieces and nephews and her furry best friend, Bo.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Barbara Kirchberg; mother and father in-law, William and Romualda “Mollie” Hansen; husband, Glenn; siblings, Vivian (Bob) Vondran, Edna (Orin) Lenstra, Barbara June Owens, in-laws, Celestine "Pete" Hansen, Vince Decker, Linda (Bernie) Andrews; Mary Ann (Dennis) Young; and John LaPrell.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Assisi Assisted Living Memory Care; Stonehill Memory Care, and Hospice of Dubuque, especially Jamie and our family "angel" Peggy.
