Robert T. Blake, 79 of Bellevue, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his family. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 12 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue officiated by Fr. Stephen Meyer. Burial will be in St. Josephs Cemetery were full Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #273. Friends may call from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home and again Monday at the funeral home from 9:30 until service time. There will be a scripture service at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Robert was born on April 28, 1930 in Bellevue, son of Joseph and Lillian (Keithley) White. He married Bonnie Ernst on November 26, 1960 in Bellevue. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Post #273 Robert was employed by John Deere and the Rail Road for most of his career. He later was employed as a semi-truck operator which he enjoyed very much. Robert was easygoing, patient and had a great sense of humor. He was proud of his family and will be deeply missed. Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Bonnie; two children, Doug (Heather Koeller) Blake, of Bellevue, David (Michelle) Blake, of Maquoketa; six grandchildren, Kristina, Terry, Casey, Brandon, Venessa, and Theresa; two great grandchildren; and a special cousin, Judy Allman. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Terry; and a brother, Donald. The family would like to thank the Bellevue Ambulance Service, the staff at Finley Hospital, and Dr. John P. Viner, Dr. Ronald W. Schope, and Dr. Mark E. Hermann and their staff at Dubuque Internal Medicine for the great care and compassion shown to Bob.
