Robert Bob D. Davids, 65, of Bellevue, died peacefully from this life after a brave battle with lymphoma on Christmas Eve morning. A Funeral Service will be held at 6:30 pm, Sunday evening, December 27 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue. A visitation for Bob will be from 3:00 6:00pm, Sunday prior to the service also at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue. Robert Dean Davids was born December 10, 1950 in Maquoketa, Iowa, the son of William II and Pauline (Kokemueller) Davids. William passed away at a young age and Pauline married Lee Bud Ales, Jr. and together they raised Bob and his six siblings. Bob started his 40 year love affair with Joyce Steines in 1975. He chased her until she caught him. They eloped on May 3, 1976. Bob was a kind and gentle man. His life was full of love for God, his country, his family, his friends and strangers. He was always looking for a way to help others. Bob started each day with prayer and a positive attitude. Bob joined the Navy after graduating from Dubuque Senior High in 1969. He served a tour in Vietnam and enjoyed many travels. His career life included semi driving, factory work, and his fun job at HyVee Locust. He was a hard-working man always providing for his family. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed gardening, bird watching, dogs, fishing, camping, woodworking, telling stories, and putzing in his garage. Most of all he loved being with his wife, his children, and his 5 precious grandkids. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 39 years, Joyce, of Bellevue; two children; Meagan (Patrick) Reeg, of Johnston, Iowa; and Clint (Kristina) Davids, of Clinton, Iowa; five grandchildren, Brady, Isabelle and Sylvia Reeg and Caiden and Madisen Davids; four siblings, Kennard (Nancy) Davids, Michael Davids, Sharon Ales and Cindy (Anthony) Allen; two brothers in-law, Dick (Marcia) Steines, Jim (Laurie) Steines; and four sisters in-law, Barb Ries, Ruth (Larry) Putman, Brenda (Terry) Bronson, and Linda (Joey) Michels; and mother in-law, Eldora Steines.
