Roberta (Benda) Howes

Roberta J. Howes, 82, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at her home in rural Bellevue. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, December 13, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation for Roberta will be held from 5:00 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home and again on Saturday morning after 9:30 a.m. at the church until service time. Roberta (Benda) was born on August 31, 1932 in Tama County, Iowa, daughter of Emma Graham. She never met her father. She married Thomas Howes on October 27, 1950 in Clinton, Iowa. She and Tom had three sons. Her children and her grandchildren were the focus of her life. Roberta loved children, gardening, crafts, the farmers market and helping other people. She liked to share recipes and tell stories. Those left to honor her memory include three sons, Steve (Terri), Tom (Terri), and Dan (Bonita), eight grandchildren and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, her mother, a sister, and her granddaughter, Brianna.
