Roger was born April 28, 1945 in Bellevue, the son of Martin and LaVerne (Junk) Watters. He graduated from Marquette High School and began his career at John Deere Works Dubuque, IA. Roger retired from John Deere after 37 years as a supply manager. He then began a 15-year career for R & B Grinding before retiring a second time. Roger was a devoted Catholic, always attending mass. Roger was married to his beloved high school sweetheart Janice Heim on April 25, 1964 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. They had one son, Rod. Roger enjoyed his motorcycle and was a member of Hawkeye Motor Cycle Club. When he grew too old to ride his motorcycle, he replaced it with a Camaro, which he kept spotless. He took every opportunity to attend his son’s and grandchildren’s events. Roger also coached little league for Rod’s team when he was younger. He had a big heart, a contagious smile and was always in a good mood. Everyone enjoyed being around him and he couldn’t go anywhere without seeing a familiar face. Roger had a fierce love for his family and always said, “If you need anything, just holler.” Roger will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of almost 55 years, Janice; his son, Rod (Chris) Watters of Asbury; grandchildren, Nick and Sierra; siblings, Loras (Karen) Watters, Sandy (Dennis) Scheckel, Jim (Carol) Watters, and Chuck (Sherry) Watters; brothers and sisters in-law, Barb (Clark) Ginter, Ann Duehr, Mary (Ray) Kubik, Joe (Janell) Daugherty, George (Winnie) Daugherty, Molly (Bob) Ploessl, Shelia (Steve) Clasen, Mike (Michelle) Daugherty, and Dan Daugherty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
