Funeral services to celebrate the life of Ronald J. Koppes, 36, a resident of Golden, Colorado, formerly of Bellevue, Iowa will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009 at the St. John Lutheran Church, 300 S. 3rd Street, Bellevue with Pastor Paul Gammelin officiating. Keeping with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 5th at the Kingery-Lemke Funeral Home, Bellevue, Iowa. There will additional visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service. The Kingery-Lemke and the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements. Ronnie passed away Saturday, June 27 at his home in Colorado. Ronald Jay Koppes was born on March 6, 1973 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Ronald C. Koppes and Elizabeth Roling. Ronnie proudly served in the United States Army from 1993 until 1996. He was united in marriage to Heidi L. Knapp on September 27, 2008 in Platteville, WI. He was currently attending the Colorado School of Trades specializing in Gunsmithing. In his free time he enjoyed 4-wheeling, hunting, shooting, and enjoying the scenic mountains of Colorado. Survivors include his wife, Heidi; his father, Ronald C. (Elizabeth) Koppes, Bellevue, IA; his mother, Elizabeth (Dave) Leidenfrost, Blue Grass, IA; sisters, Rhonda (Randy) Petesch, Bellevue, IA, Renee (Doug) Bradley, Springbrook, IA, Terri (Mark) Kruse, Shiloh, IL, and Andrea (John) Davison, DeWitt, IA; nieces and nephews, Nathan Petesch, Jack and Ryan Davison, Rachael and Katelyn Kruse and his mother and father-in-law Dan and Rose Knapp, Cuba City, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
