Saverna M. Sieverding

Saverna M. Sieverding, 82, of Bellevue, passed away Sunday evening, August 19, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Saverna will be held from 3:00 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service and again on Thursday morning after 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Saverna was born on October 17, 1929 in Spragueville, Iowa, daughter of Harry and Margaret (Schmidt) Rubel. She married Gerald Sieverding on September 14, 1948 in St. Joseph Catholic Church; he passed away September 4, 1983 Saverna graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1947. She worked at the Riverview Cafe for over 38 years, retiring just a few short months ago. Saverna was hardworking, independent, and extremely giving. She kept busy gardening, canning, reading, and socializing. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Savernas family was very important to her. She cherished every minute she spent with them. Those left to honor her memory include her eight children, Steve (Jean) Sieverding of St. Donatus, Carol (Jim) Allen of Peoria, Arizona, Sharon (Paul) Till, and Sandy Ties, both of Bellevue, Jan (Mike) Blok of Dubuque, Greg (Gina) Sieverding of Peru, New York, Bill (Deb) Sieverding and Kate (Fiance' Nate Millman) Sieverding, both of Bellevue, eighteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren, three siblings Harry (Eloise) Rubel, Lavonne (Earl) Stevens, Karen (Richard) Davison and one sister-in-law Leanna Sieverding. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Scott Sieverding, son-in-law Roger Ties, sister Donna Merrick, and two brothers in-law Clifford Merrick Sr. and Eldon Sieverding.
