Shirley L. (Kane) Sieverding, age 79, of Bellevue, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 28, 2024, surrounded by her children and husband.
To honor Shirley’s life a Wake Service will begin at 2:30pm with visitation to continue until 6:00 pm, on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bellevue, Iowa. Additional visitation will be 9:00 am – 10:00 am, prior to Mass on Friday at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, October 4, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bellevue, Iowa. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellevue.
Shirley was born on August 28, 1945, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Angela (McCarthy) Kane. She graduated from Wahlert High School in Dubuque in 1964. Shirley married Glenn Sieverding on May 30, 1966, at St. Joe’s Prairie Church. Glenn and Shirley were married for 58 years. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley was known for her dedication of sending birthday cards to family and friends and never missing that special day. She enjoyed playing bingo and “coffee time” with her friends and family. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. She loved the beauty of mums. Her family truly was the most important part of her life. She was a wonderful woman, and we will miss her tremendously.
Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory include her husband Glenn Sieverding, her children, Cheryl Sieverding, Bill (Donna) Sieverding, Brian (Dacia) Sieverding, John (Kristy) Sieverding. She is also survived by; 12 grandchildren Monika (Peter) Steffen, Krystal Hall, Cheyenne Sieverding, Jakob Sieverding, Logan and Gavin Sieverding, Gavin Guilliams, Bel, Colton, Brenna, Brielle, and Blakely Sieverding; and 5 great-grandchildren Porter, Mallory, and Archer Steffen, Coben Hall, and Elyse Sieverding.
Siblings, Joyce Haudenshield, Janet Beireis, Marie (Jim) Balk, Marty (Cindy) Kane, Mike (Marge) Kane, Linda (Clarence) Hoftender, and Bill (Mary Kay) Kane; sisters and brothers in-law; Alice Kilburg, Dave Sieverding, Dan “Pete” (Mary) Sieverding, Mark “Weed” (Sherri) Sieverding, Darlene Sieverding, Darla Sieverding, Donna Sieverding and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Angela Kane; father and mother in-law, Cletus and Clara Sieverding; her brother, Dan Kane; her sister Mary Jo (Jay) Kiernan; her sisters and brothers in-law; Jim Haudenshield, John Beireis, Marilyn (Virtus) Clasen, Lorin Kilburg; Cletus “Ham” (Phyllis and Betty) Sieverding, Lorin “Butch” Sieverding, Norma Sieverding, Tom Sieverding, Don Sieverding, and Karen Sieverding.
The Family would like to thank all the nurses and staff of Mercy Hospital of Dubuque, Bellevue EMS, Mill Valley Care Center, Hospice of Jackson County especially “Rose”, for all their kindness and professional care. The family would also like to thank Wendy Kilburg for her continued love, care, and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Shirley’s memory.
