Shirley Alice (Keil) Hachmann celebrated her 99th birthday with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren justtwo weeks before joining her husband, Scott, in eternal life on June 24, 2024.
Shirley began life on the family farm south of Bellevue, born to Ardo and Elsie Keil, on June 11, 1925. She joined an older sister, Wilma (Clausen) (dec), and was followed by three brothers Harold (dec), Stanley (dec), and Roger.
Shirley attended the University of Dubuque and taught in several country schools as well as the Bellevue Public School system. Many people will remember Shirley for her thoughtfulness and talent for hand-writing multiple-page letters and sending cards to them on their special occasions.
She and Scott were married on April 6, 1947, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bellevue, IA. Shirley was part of the “Welcoming Committee” in Bellevue wherethey resided until 1982. Upon Scott’s retirement from John Deere Dubuque Works, they moved to Salida, CO, where she was active in the Lutheran Church Ladies Guild. The legacy of their love lives on in their three sons, Steven (Roxi), Stuart (Peggy) and Stan (Shirley), six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She returned to Bellevue in 2017.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Staff of Sunrise Villa, Mill Valley Care Center, Jackson County Hospice and the many people that visited Shirley during the past 6 years of her stay in Bellevue. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
A Service of Christian Burial will take place at First Lutheran Church, Salida, CO on Sat. July 13. Visitation will take place at 1:00 with the service following at 2:00. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Salida, CO.
