Steven C. Putman, 65, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away, Sunday evening, February 12, 2017 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.Private family service will be held at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bellevue. Steve was born January 5, 1952 in Bellevue, Iowa, son of David and Thelma (Stuart) Putman. He married Rita Ries on June 16, 1973.Steve was devoted to his children and grandchildren and all their activities. He really enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, trapping, hunting and camping. He also loved playing sports and watching his grandchildren play them as well.He was a brave man who fought his multiple medical conditions courageously throughout the years. He was always optimistic and focused on the positive. He was a compassionate man full of kindness and humor. He was very inspirational to all of us.Those left to honor his memory, include his wife of 43 years, Rita Putman, of Bellevue; three children Craig (Tessa) Putman, of Bellevue, Jodi (Mike) Meadows, of DeWitt and Rod (Jessica) Putman, of DeWitt; eight grandchildren, four brothers, Richard (Sharon DeWitt) Meyer, of Clinton, Willard (Norma) Meyer, David (Cindy) Putman, and Larry (Ruth) Putman, all of Bellevue and two sisters, Cheryl Budde and Connie (Pete) Anderson both of Bellevue.Steve was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dixie.
