Sylvester Ves L. Deppe, 94, of Bellevue, left his Euchre buddies at Mill Valley Care Center on a beautiful Monday morning, April 24, 2017, for a new Euchre game where he always holds the right and left bower and a pond where the fish are always biting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, April 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be held in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Ves will be from 4:00 -7:00 pm Thursday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service and again on Friday morning from 9:00-10:00 am also at the funeral home.Ves was born on October 6, 1922 in Bellevue, the son of John and Marguerite (Hingtgen) Deppe. He married Esther Ties, on October 23, 1950 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook, Ia.Over the years, Ves owned Deppes Grinding and Mixing and he sold BP Feed. He also worked at Fidelity Bank, Better Homes Furniture, and as a bartender at the Riverview Hotel. Ves was easy going, friendly, and was a pleasure to be around. Some of his greatest joys were bowling, fishing, and playing Euchre, especially with his family. He also took up painting at the age of 94. Ves was involved in the Bellevue Knights of Columbus and was an active member in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish.Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 66 years, Esther; children, Gary (Shirley) Deppe, of Dewitt, Lorin (Shirley) Deppe, of Maquoketa, Loras (Barb) Deppe, of Bellevue, and Ruth (Randy) Felderman, of Huntsville, Alabama; nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren with another one due to arrive in August.Ves was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Vincent, Oscar, Clarence, Richard; and three sisters, Viola Kass, Rosie Post, and Florence Michels.
