Thomas Daugherty

October 5, 2006 Thomas James Daugherty, 71, of Bellevue passed away suddenly Thursday, October 5, 2006 at his home. Tom was born July 17th, 1935 in Bellevue, son of the late Cornelius V. and Teresa (Kueter) Daugherty. He married Rita Yeager September 3rd, 1960 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Bellevue. She survives. Tom was the former President of Bellevue State Bank retiring in 2000. He was a bank director and Riverview Development Director as well as a charter member. He received his BA in Economics from Loras College in Dubuque and also attended the Wisconsin School of Banking. He was proud to have served his country as a member of the National Guard. He was a member of the Bellevue Golf Club, Bellevue Knights of Columbus and the Iowa Bankers Association. Tom had also taught Junior Achievement at St. Josephs Church. Golfing, biking, reading and gardening were among his favorite things to do. He also was an avid supporter of the Hawkeyes, Cubs and Bears. Most of all he loved being with his grandchildren. Besides his loving wife, Rita (Yeager) Daugherty of Bellevue, survivors include, four children, William T. (Lisa) Daugherty, of Kansas City, Theresa (Cletus) Weber, of Bellevue, Sara (Mark) Eisbach, Dubuque and Ruth (fiancé Jim Cavanaugh) Daugherty of Bellevue; 11 grandchildren, Megan, Madison, Zachary, William Zane, Cody, Jessalyn, Thomas, Shane, Scott, Marisa and Shelby; five sisters, Jean Daugherty, Bellevue, Helen Mulligan, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Sr. Gertrude Daugherty FSPA, LaCrosse, WI , Sr. Betty Ann Daugherty FSPA, Hiawatha, IA and Mary Lou Koppes, Peoria, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Betty Daugherty, Bellevue, Helen Daugherty, Bellevue and Agnes Daugherty, Redwood Valley, California, Ruthie (Bill) Conway, Bettendorf, Bob (Mary) Ballantyne, Ely, IA, Gary (Katy) Roeder, Bellevue; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two infant sisters, brothers, Neil, Chuck, Greg, John and Pat; sister-in-law, Patricia Daugherty, father and mother-in-law, V. Kenneth and Mildred Yeager. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, October 9th, 2006 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Bellevue. The Rev. Fr. Stephen Meyer will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 3-7 pm and again on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of Mass all at the church in Bellevue.
