Velma Clara Schwager, 75, of Bellevue died Wednesday, January 25th, 2006 at her home. Velma was born October 20th, 1930 in rural Bellevue, the daughter of the late Peter M. and Josephine (Deppe) Hingtgen. She married Bennett Schwager February 20th, 1950 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in La Motte, Iowa. He preceded her in death April 7th, 1981. Velma was a homemaker, helping her husband Bennett on the farm for many years. She was an avid card player and enjoyed reading, baking and sewing. She was a member of the Young at Heart Card Club and St. Josephs Catholic Church in Bellevue. Most of all she was a devoted mother and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her four children, Sr. Joan Schwager R.S.M., Cedar Rapids, Richard Schwager, Otter Creek, Nancy (Dennis) Hingtgen, Bellevue and Mark (Susan) Schwager, Kalispell, Montana; three granddaughters, Crystal Noonan, Aundi and Ashley Schwager; four grandsons, Jered and Bennett Noonan, Michael and Matthew Schwager; two step granddaughters; two great granddaughters; three sisters, Irma Schlegel, Dubuque, Marie Tanner and Ruth (Ed) Reese both of Clinton; one brother-in-law, Wilfred Schwager, Bellevue and one sister-in-law, Sr. Donna Schwager F.S.P.A. La Crosse, Wisconsin. Besides her husband, Bennett, and her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Ries. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, January 30th, 2006 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Bellevue. The Rev. Fr. Stephen Meyer will preside. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-5 pm at Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue.
