Vera A. Griebel, 98, of Bellevue, passed away Monday morning, December 19, 2016 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue. A Christian Funeral Service will be held at 4:00pm, Friday, December 23 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in St John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation for Vera will be held from 1:00 4:00pm Friday also at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Vera was born on October 28, 1918 in Bellevue, daughter of Henry and Amanda (Kuhlman) Beeler. She married Royal W. Griebel on October 3, 1940 at the St. John Lutheran Parsonage in Bellevue. He passed away February 4, 1974.Vera, Nano, was a kind compassionate lady. Her greatest joy was her family. She had many interests which included fishing, farming, gardening and baking. She loved to bowl, golf and play cards. Vera enjoyed traveling and visited many places around the world with her friends. She loved her Hawkeyes and was a devoted Cub fan all her life.She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue. She sang in the church choir, sewed many quilts and belonged to the Elizabeth Circle.After the passing of her husband, she worked at Younkers and later was the secretary at Bellevue Elementary school for many years.Those left to honor her memory include her five children, William (Sue) Griebel, of Bellevue, Jane Patterson, Crystal City, Missouri, Judith (Rex) Graham, of Bellevue, Joyce (Tom) Gibbons, of San Jose, California and Jill (Gerald) Whiting, of Bellevue; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; son in-law, Sam Patterson; brother, Henry; and four sisters, Marie, Gladys, Irma and Kathryn.A special thanks to Hospice of Jackson County and the caregivers at Mill Valley, with a special thanks to Jennifer Murphy, also thank you to Pastor Paul and Hachmann Funeral Home.
