Virginia A. Tucky Van Slyke, 83, of Bellevue, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2008 at her home under the care of Dubuque Hospice. Virginia was born December 28th, 1924, in St. Paul, MN, daughter of the late Frank and Lucille A. (Bacon) Van Slyke. Virginia worked for many years at the Savannah Army Depot and later retired as a maintenance specialist for the Armament Command at the Rock Island Arsenal. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as her pets. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue. She also was a member of the Ruth Circle. Virginia enjoyed making comforters, working with Bread Basket and gardening. She is survived by nieces, Virginia Valant, Bellevue, Venetia (Robert) McFarlin, Shaunee, KS, nephew, Richard (Diane) Valant, Bettendorf, a great niece and several great nephews and her friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Valant. Memorial Services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008 at The First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue. The Rev. Dr. Marsha L. Wilfong and Pastor Paul Gammelin will concelebrate. Burial will be at 2 PM in the Savannah Township Cemetery, Savannah, Illinois.
