Wiliam Bill Edward Brandt, 81, of Bellevue, peacefully passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 27 at St. John Lutheran Church, Bellevue. Inurnment will be in St. John Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post #273. A visitation for Bill will be held from 10:00 11:00 a.m., Friday morning prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue. Bill was born on November 27, 1930 in Bellevue, Iowa, son of Edward and Bernice (Glade) Brandt. Bill graduated from Bellevue High School in 1948. He served the United States Air Force from January 8, 1952 until December 18, 1955. He worked for his father at Brandts Garage as a mechanic for many years. Bill was a very talented mechanic. He eventually took over as owner and continued right up until his recent illness only months ago. Bill was easy going, modest, had a great memory and sense of humor. He enjoyed restoring tractors, antique cars and telling stories. Brandts Garage was a daily meeting place for many men over the years. Bill Brandt and Brandts garage will truly be missed. Those left to honor his memory include his mother Bernice Brandt, of Bellevue, cousin, Jan (Roy) Brinker and family, and many many friends. He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents. The family would like to thank Dr. Schultz, Mill Valley Care Center, Hospice of Jackson County, Pastor Paul and Bills many friends who came to visit and care for him throughout his illness. A special thanks to Robert Baugh and Diane Ploeger for their special care and compassion shown to Bill, he truly appreciated it.
