William Bill F. Roelandt, 65, of Bellevue, died Thursday March 31, 2011 at his home after a courageous fight with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Hachmann Funeral Home, Bellevue. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation for William will be held from 1:00 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Bill was born on November 16, 1945, in Sioux Falls S.D. son of William Francis Roelandt and Evelyn Loriane Dunlap. Bill was enlisted in the United States Marines from 1963-67 and the United States Navy from 1968-69, where he proudly served his country. William and his wife moved to Bellevue from Davenport in 1998. He was employed as a Welder/Machinist for more than 30 years, retiring in 2008. Bill was a proud member of the American Legion and of the Firing Squad; He was an avid fisherman, archer, and hunter. Bill fished in the Bellevue area for over 40 years, and always felt that Bellevue was his home. Another passion of Bills was racing his stock car where he met and made many close friends that he considered to be his extended family. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Renee Roelandt, of Bellevue, six children, twenty five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a brother, sister in-law, a step sister, and two future sons in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, and grandson. The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Dubuque, and all of the VA team for the care and compassion shown to William.
