Willis Gus Doland, 82, of Bellevue passed away Tuesday, March 20th, 2007 at his home. Willis was born November 14th, 1924 in Maquoketa, son of the late Forrest and Elizabeth (Corbitt) Doland. He married Marilyn Ernst on May 6th, 1950 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Bellevue. She survives. Willis worked 36 years at John Deere Dubuque Works, retiring in October of 1983. He was proud to have served his country during World War II. He was an 82nd Airborne Army Infantryman with the 508 Parachute Regiment. He also was a member of the Bellevue American Legion Post 273 and the United Auto Workers Local 94. Golfing, bowling, hunting and fishing were among his favorite things to do. Most of all he loved his family. Besides his loving wife, Marilyn, survivors include their children; David (Barb) Doland, Bettendorf, Larry Doland, Bellevue, Steven Doland, San Francisco, CA, Mary (David) Voelkel, Cedar Rapids, Bruce (Suzie) Doland, Lewisville, TX, Karen Doland, Des Moines, and Lisa (Scott) Yeager, Huxley; seven grandchildren, and their spouses; four great grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and their spouses; and ten step-great grandchildren; special family friends, Mary Kay Portzen, Thomas Collins, and Sue Hipschen; his brothers, Forrest Doland, Mesa, AZ, Dilman Doland, East Hampton, MA, Donn (Virginia) Doland, Juneau, AK; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Yeager, one sister, Doris Lynch; one brother, Robert Stuart Doland; his in-laws, Bob and Judy Ernst, Vernon Ernst, Jr.; Andrew Agosta and Margaret Doland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Monday, March 26th, 2007 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-5 PM at the Kingery ~ John C Lemke Funeral Home in Bellevue and again on Monday at the Funeral Home until the time of procession.
